Search combinations:
It is mandatory to enter data in the Company Name field. Enter words or parts of words that are included in the name of the company (see below at Wild cards / Exact search). Company Name or part of it can be entered together with Address or together with any combination of Legal Form or Status Group.
Example
A search where “volvo + trucks – aero” is entered in the company name field would be performed as a search for companies that have the words “volvo” and “trucks” but not the word “aero” in the company name.
It is thus possible to express relations between the words entered in the Company Name field. Entering fields with a space or + sign as separator have the meaning that each and every word should be included in the name of the company. Using a minus sign before a word has the meaning that the word that follows should not exist in the company name.
Supported languages and name types:
The Swedish register holds company names that are mainly in Swedish (or rather from the Swedish vocabulary) but some names are in foreign languages. See also Supported characters.
It is possible to search for company names, secondary names and company names in translation in the Swedish register. In these three cases only current names can be searched for, not previous or historical names. Searching always includes both alive and dead companies.
Supported characters:
Names are searchable without national characters, Latin letters A-Z will do. So for names with words from the Swedish vocabulary, that might contain the letters å, ä, ö, those characters can be replaced with the corresponding characters without accent. The same goes for letters ü and é. The letters v and w are considered different. It is only the first 12 characters in each word that are considered or that are significant when searching. The search is not case sensitive. The search is not phonetically.
The following characters are not taken into consideration: & ‘ \ ( ). The characters + and – have special meaning, see Search combination. The character * have special meaning, see Wild cards.
Wild cards / exact search / search phrase:
It is possible to use wild card (*) at the end of words, like volkswag*. Omitting the * is interpreted as exact search on the word in question.
The search routine does not support exact search on the entire company name. The search routine does neither support search for a phrase.
Non-searchable words:
Some frequently occurring words that are mandatory in the company names, such as Aktiebolag (Swedish for Limited company) are ignored in the search process. The most frequent ones are Aktiebolag, Handelsbolag, Kommanditbolag and the corresponding abbreviations AB, HB, KB. These words are ignored as the number of hits will be too many.
Buffers / Search more:
The Company Search reply can hold up till 300 companies. No ‘search more’ function is available. If you get too many hits please refine your search by using more fields, as described above.
